IST Alumni Society Award: Student Organization Funding

The IST Alumni Society is committed to ensuring current IST students and organizations have opportunities to create engaging experiences that support learning and growth outside of the classroom. As part of that commitment, student organizations can apply for funding available through the IST Alumni Society to support the organization and its members develop and participate in engaging experiences.

Awards may be applied toward a variety of experiences including the purchase of software, equipment, fees, tickets, travel, or other direct expenses related to the experience.

Awards typically range from $250 - $1,000 per request and will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Professional and Student Development: How does the experience promote student learning and growth, leadership development, connection with other students, and/or networking with potential employers?
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: How will the experience enrich diversity, equity and inclusion in the IST community?
  • Community Building: How will the experience create and/or enhance visibility and connections with the IST community.

As part of your submission, please upload a brief statement (approximately 250 words) describing how this experience will enhance professional and student development, ensure diversity and inclusion and create a connection to the broader IST community an overview of the activity or experience. Please consider the following questions when summarizing your request:

  • What will you be doing during this experience?
  • Why is your group participating in this experience? What is your main goal?
  • What impact do you hope the experience will have on you and your group personally and/or professionally?
  • Where will this experience take place?
  • Who is leading this experience and/or participating with your group?
