Penn State and the College of Information Sciences and Technology have developed special partnerships with selected government agencies. The partnerships provide the opportunity for exchange of data and information to support research, opportunities for IST students for internships, and research funding to support IST faculty and graduate students.

We have a relationship with the National Security Agency via our recognition by NSA as a national educational center of excellence in information assurance and cyber security. We also have a relationship with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.

IST also has partnerships with:

Penn State is the U.S. Marine Corp Research University and conducts research and training for the United States Marine Corps.

The Penn State Applied Research Laboratory is a Department of Defense University Affiliated Research Center (UARC) and conducts research in Information Technology for Department of Defense applications.

IST is the academic home for the recently awarded Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
