Tom is a 1989 Penn State graduate from the Eberly College of Science. He earned a degree in Mathematics and decided to take the teaching option to start his career as a public school teacher. While at Penn State, Tom was a member of the Blue Band, Phi Mu Alpha, Parmi Nous and the Philharmonic.

During the course of his 30 years teaching, Tom earned his Masters degree from Novasoutheastern as well as an additional 30 credits and a Supervisory Certificate from The College of New Jersey. Tom also taught at The College of New Jersey, instructing students in C++ and Visual BASIC.

Tom is very active with the Alumni Blue Band Association as well as a published author, having authored three books about Penn State. Two of the books chronicles the history of the Blue Band while his third is a general history book about Penn State.

As well as Penn State, Tom's interest includes comic books. He attended and sold at conventions in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Wisconsin. He also created and presented Investing in Comic Books:What Makes a Comic Worth So Much? at many of the conventions he vended at.

Tom returned to his Alma Mater and joined the Career Resource staff of IST in July 2019.
