App to prevent misuse of personal imagery wins top prize in IdeaMakers Challenge

<p>As a kickoff to Penn State Startup Week, six student teams pitched their startups to a panel of judges, competing for prizes totaling $35,500 in funding in the 2026 Invent Penn State Inc.U Competition. SlammedU, a startup founded by Smeal College of Business student Niklas Restrepo, won first place and $15,000.</p>

<p>Natalie Bazarova, professor of communication and associate vice provost for research at Cornell University, will present “Fostering Healthier Digital Ecosystems Through Prosocial Design and Digital Literacy Interventions” at 12:10 p.m. on April 9 in E208 Westgate Building at University Park as part of the College of Information Sciences and Technology's Distinguished Lecture Series. </p>
