										 <description><![CDATA[<p><span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">When is the deadline for submitting my application packet?</span><br />Completed application packets must be delivered to the College of IST by December 15, 2009. Applications submitted without all required documents will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed for admission. </p>
<p><span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">When will I be notified of an admission decision?</span><br />Application packets will not be reviewed before the December 15 deadline. Decisions are expected to be made by early to&nbsp;mid February.</p>
<p><span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">How does IST differ from computer science and engineering?</span><br />The College<span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold"> </span>of Information Science and Technology (IST) is housed in the same building (the IST Building) as the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department,<span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">&nbsp; </span>which is a part of the College of Engineering. Compared to CSE, the graduate program of IST addresses broader issues dealing with computing (especially those involving large volume of heterogenous information), beyond creating new algorithms.</p>
<span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">How does IST differ from&nbsp; MIS?</span><br />Compared to MIS, the graduate program of IST focuses on information-centric issues of organizations and other social entities, not just those of business. <br /><br /><span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">How does IST differ from psychology?</span><br />Compared to Psychology, the graduate program of IST focus on cognition and human elements regarding how they affect (and are affected by) information-centric issues within a particular context.

										 <description><![CDATA[<p class="normal-no-click normal-O-no-click">The IST minor is designed to expose students not majoring in IST to the cognitive, social, institutional, and global environments of Information Sciences and Technology and to teach them to apply that knowledge as a supplement to their major.<br /></p>
<p class="normal-no-click normal-O-no-click">Through this program, students can gain the theoretical frameworks and skill sets necessary to compete and be productive in the information technology-intensive global context that defines the new &quot;Information Age.&quot;<br /></p>
<p class="normal-no-click normal-O-no-click">Specifically, the IST minor will enable students to:<br /></p>

    <li>Build an understanding of core information technologies and related areas of study. </li>
    <li>Prepare for the practical application of various information sciences and related technologies. <br /></li>
    <li>Sharpen their abilities to think critically and to work in teams. <br /></li>

    <li>Click on the campus location where the IST Minor will be completed. </li>
    <li>An entrance to minor form will open with the requirements and the IST contact person. All completed applications will be sent by the IST campus contact to Jeanie Peritz for entrance into the minor. </li>
    <li>Upon entrance into the minor, a one-time, non-refundable fee of $750 (USD) will be assessed. </li>
    <li>A grade of C or better is required for all courses in this minor. <br /></li>
