Office of Learning Initiatives

In the College of IST, we take pride in the educational experience we offer students. We aim to produce self-directed, proactive learners who can think critically and problem solve when they graduate from Penn State.

Our faculty is committed to providing engaging, interactive environments where students do more than just listen to lectures. In our courses students discuss issues with their peers, work in collaborative groups to solve problems, and turn to faculty experts and student mentors for feedback and coaching.

The Office of Learning Initiatives offers a number of activities focused on planning, designing, implementing, and assessing the meaningful learning experiences that faculty design, including:
  • Course Design Consultations
  • Teaching Intern Program
  • Educational Technology Tools
  • Learning Assessment
  • Monthly "Teaching Community" Discussions
