John Hill

Biographical Information

John Hill has spent more than 30 years working in the information technology industry. For the past 10 years he was employed with Sun Microsystems as the chief standardization strategy officer. In this capacity, he managed the worldwide activities of 400 people in 250 consortia, trade associations, and standards development organizations. That position required traveling the world, giving speeches, and participating in meetings to work out the technical and procedural details of the product standards the IT industry relies upon today.

Before joining Sun Microsystems, Hill worked for AMP (Tyco Electronics), Compaq, Unisys, and Burroughs. He joined Burroughs in 1976 after completing his M.B.A. at Drexel. He has a B.A. in economics from Millersville and has taught as an adjunct faculty for both Immaculata and Ursinus colleges for 10 years. He will be teaching systems and enterprise integration courses in the College of IST.
