2-Nov-2000 Server Problems - Class Mirror Site Established

The IST server partition ran out of quota sometime yesterday, preventing me from uploading class materials. So - I have established a class mirror site at http://www.personal.psu.edu/staff/g/m/gms/cya/110fa00/. I will be maintaining this mirror until the quota problems are resolved on the other server.

The CAC Training Group is looking to hire students with good technical skills (e-mail, word processing, HTML, FTP, etc.) who are also good at helping inexperienced users learn to use computer applications.

The successful candidate will be rewarded with good pay, flexible hours, great resume material and paid training.

If you are intreested, send your resume listing relevant computing skills to seminars@psu.edu -- be sure to tell them that you are in Dr. Santoro's IST 110 class. (it may help) Or call 863-9522.

If you get an interview, you will be asked to present a 5-minute class on sending and receiving electronic mail.

5-Sep-2000 -- Do not send attachments to the Listserv Conference.

Please do not send binary attachments to the Listserv conference. The archiving mechanism does not handle attachments correctly, with the result that the information becomes inaccessable.

If you use a word processor to create the notes - convert them to ASCII text first, then copy and paste that text into the body of your note to the Listserv conference. NOTE - The ability to create an ASCII file from a WP document is a very important real-world skill!

The bad news is -- that is all the good news for now...
